Chronicle of the process of moving from USA to Mexico

Saturday, June 12, 2004

The rather crude map which I hacked together from different Mapquest images depicts our tenatively planned (subject to change) drive to Mexico with a few stops in Estados Unidos enroute. We will visit family in Wheatland Wyoming for an undetermined length of stay and then proceed south to Tucson and perhaps visit a long time friend who lives there.

The trip will be slowed down from the original plan of driving fast track in about 10 days or so. Instead there will be no firm schedule. We will get to Merida in due time. I suppose there is a remote possiblity that enroute we will find some other place that seems ideal and we will end up staying there a week or 35 years but in reality I think that we will arrive in Merida around the beginning of September.

RETIRED!

Friday (June 4th 2004) was my last day of work. I left work at 1pm with my last few boxes of stuff in the back of the XTerra. At 2pm the byuers house inspection began and lasted for about 3.5 hours.

On Saturday, I retrieved the 28 page inspection report as a PDF file from the inspection companies web site. The report is very thorough and its not too tough to find some issues in a house that is 5 years older than I am.

Tommorrow, Monday (June 7th, 2004) is the appraisal and so I've tried to make the house look decent once again. I bought a fresh batch of flowers for the kitchen table
